An interesting and new take on highlighting the false facade of a utopian world. I found the characters to be likeable and consistently growing throughout the series. The romance between the protagonists, Rowan and Citra is a slow burn and will keep you wanting to know more. The book is very unexpected, with a new cliffhanger at every corner.

However, I did find the writing to be too simple at times. This is very much a personal preference and does not take away from the book at all.

Holy moly that was dark. I mean I knew the premise going in but I still wasn’t prepared. The story is great and I see why it’s so popular. Definitely need to be in a healthy headspace to read this. For a while I didn’t think I would be able to continue the series but after that ending I think I definitely will…I might just need to read a few books in between.
