So obviously I’m on a trashy mafia romance kick at the moment. I had this downloaded on my kindle from ages ago so I couldn’t really remember what it was about when I started and I quickly realised just how messed up it was lol. While this wasn’t my cup of tea it was short and easy enough to read that I just pushed myself through it.
Scars by Dana Isaly is a dark reverse harem romance. This is the first book in The Triad series.
This is Dana's debut novel and she knocked it out of the park! I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I am absolutely loving the chemistry between Scarlet, Sebastian, Tristan, and Elliot. I really enjoyed getting all of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
The book ends on an amazing cliffhanger! I can't wait for the next book in the series Liars to be released on December 10, 2021.
I would highly recommend this book if you like dark romances, reverse harem romances, or mafia/gang romances. This is definitely one of my TOP 2021 READS!

Not a bad book but at the same there’s nothing special about it. I don’t think I’m going to read the next book in the series, there’s just no pull towards it.
The characters are a bit too shallow for my taste, there’s very little difference between the boys personalities and they kinda blend together. Scarlett is your typical “badass” female MC, i do like that she actually keeps some of her sass and doesn’t immediately go soft.

This was a bunch of tropes and popular concepts regurgitated into a very fast burn and underdeveloped plot. Like, the ideas were there and the initial plot was good. But the pace and character development were a mess.
Plus, the romance was filled with misogynistic and toxic concepts. The sex scenes read like scripts of bad porno, where women appear to enjoy being choked, spitted at and brutally bruised during sex.
And the icing on the cake was reading the three guys complaining about the girl’s dad calling her a slut and next scene, one of them calling her just that during sex.

Exciting gang/mafia romance
So I was obsessed with DoV and saw this recommended on tiktok, went and then saw a review on Goodreads about it being along the same lines. Guys this book is great. There's intrigue LOTS of spice. I can't figure out what's going to happen next but I love these men. great read and now onto the next book.

Lack character depth. FMC was annoying and whiny. Was supposed to be a strong female and yet the day after she’s kidnapped she’s fucking them? Yeah no. Storyline was predictable. This was honestly a worse Den of Vipers or Den of Vipers fanfic. I liked Den of Vipers and the similarities between the two are uncanny.
Please make yourself aware of the reasons this author is problematic. I will no longer be reading, sharing, or promoting any of their books.

Tristan makes sure she has everything she needs, and Sebastian makes sure she feels safe. And still, Elliot wants nothing to do with her. Especially when he's out-voted and is "stuck" with her. I love that Scarlet gave them the exact same plan for her staying as they had already come up with. I knew we were in trouble when Scarlet put their personal assistant in her place. And then a night out turned into a different kind of night out very quickly! The entirety of that night was dirty in multiple ways. And things continued to get dirtier, and dirtier. Especially that night at the warehouse. I am giving none of that away! There's a character towards the end that you are going to fall in love with. And you're heart will be broken. Shattered. There were little tid bits that made my heart pitter patter. Like Tristan getting Scarlet a burger knowing she'd want one when she saw he had one. That she didn't want their protection, she just wanted a place to belong. All the cuddles! When Elliot calls Scarlet to check on her. Tristan being open about his childhood. Nose boops. It's a reverse harem, and nose boops made me gooey!
