adventurous dark tense fast-paced

After not having read for fun in YEARS, somehow this book and I collided. Scars completely reignited my love for reading and tossed me into the wild world of reverse harems in the process. While the book itself isn't outstanding, it does present some sort of comfort. Filled with tropes and predictable writing, I read the entire thing in one sitting — only to be left on a cliffhanger.

I like the concept of this book, but it is poorly executed. The characters are interesting, but they have no depth. They all have tragic backstories, but those stories don’t correlate into motivation. They are obsessed with violence, but nothing in the book explains why they crave it other than “being fucked up” or “needing therapy”. The relationships between the MC and her men develop far to quickly without explanation. It is almost an insta-love story on both Scarlet’s end and the boys, which makes no sense given all of the characters trauma histories and how cagey that should make them. Even the reluctant one caves to quickly when the author easily could have written months of growing trust while in an actual hostage situation.
The sex is decent, don’t expect more for this book.
Considering how much I’ve liked some of this authors other works this is a shame.

This is the first book in the Triad Series (three books, currently incomplete). The story centers around Scarlett who has escaped from her Romanian gang family that she believes tried to have her killed on her 21st birthday. She is captured by The Triad who want to make a deal with her family, but instead, she worms her way into their hearts. This book isn't truly a reverse harem, but I imagine future books In the series will be.

This book drew me in from the start. The character development is good, not great but the spice level is off the charts right from the start. There's pleasure tied to pain, so definitely be prepared for that. And like all good books that are part of a series, this novel ends with a very good cliffhanger. Definitely will be reading Liars when it comes out in December.

- wow this was so smutty HAHA
- no plot just sex AHHAH
- I liked the tension, the banter, bickering and the chemistry with scar and the 3 boys
- ended in a freaking cliffhanger wtf i can’t wait to read the second book!
