I was convinced that this edition is abridged. It turns out that the second part of Little Women as we would think of it from the films is actually Good Wives.

Controversial opinion but… I didn’t really enjoy this until about the last 100-150 pages. It was very long with basically nothing happening, you could skip chapters and miss nothing. Had to switch to the audiobook partway through because I was struggling to motivate myself to read it so much. By the very end I was fond of Amy and Jo but honestly didn’t really care about anyone else.

4.5 stars if I could. The lessons from Marmee in Part One felt preachy, but as I got to know the characters it was easy to overlook that aspect.

i really could not tell you how much little women meant to me growing up and what it means to me now. i don't even think it's particularly "brilliant" and "high-brow" literature. i think at times it can even be a bit preachy! but there are so many versions of me contained in this book that i feel like i'm a march sister myself. i think about them often :)
