Well-

Reading this for a second time after a few years and loving it. Maybe loving it even more.
A nice matriarchical change from the typical male perspective Arthurian tale.

Despite everyone's issues with the Author's antics, this is a very good book. And you have to give it that. A familiar but different tale of King Arthur and Camelot. Most reader of Arthurian Legend will enjoy this book.

I have read some of this author’s work before and it really didn’t sit right; specifically, her long-winded prose and the way she approaches relationships between characters. I thought I could get over her writing for this story, because I love Arthuriana and will read almost anything with King Arthur. However, I only made it through the first part of the book. Characters think the same things over and over again, and they are all impressively static. Bradley also takes some strange liberties with the story that didn’t work for me, such as Taliesin being Merlin. Also, she screws up the family trees unimaginably, making incest and terrible age/generation dynamics in all the relationships. I know Arthuriana always has some incest-Morgan and Arthur’s incestuous child is behind the downfall of Camelot in every retelling. However, Bradley went above and beyond-there is absolutely no need to screw up the classic family tree, especially to the level that she goes-it’s like she was trying to force more incest into the story. All in all, I just couldn’t justify spending any more time reading such a boring and uncomfortable retelling of my favorite story.
