I’m very glad I picked up the audiobook, I’ve tried to read classics before but struggled to because the style they’re written in is hard for me to get into. Listening to it was much better though and I’ll have to do that for other classics I’ve been meaning to read.

I’ve much enjoyed listening to this book and it made me think a lot about what the government in this book and the government for the country I live in have in common (a decent amount it seems, which isn’t a good look haha). The ending wasn’t exactly what I had hoped for but the book is meant to be realistic, so I do suppose the ending does make sense.

1984 is a dystopian book about a society where everything you do is monitored and all information is controlled. The book centers on the man character Winston who falls in love with a woman named Julia. The story manly centers on the aspects of the dystopian life he lives in and also the bleak and tragic love story between Winston and Julia.  I loved this book and my jaw dropped at the ending. This is one of the bleakest dystopian books you’ll ever read, and I loved it.

I know this is a "classic" but it might be one of the books that solidified my love for the dystopian genre. I love the world that was built, I love the characters and the decision that they make. This is one of my re-reads every year or so. I keep a physical copy of this book in my car in case I go anywhere and need something to read (once my phone and kindle die).
