An honest confession: this series has never truly impressed me before now. But this book has blown all the others out of the water. SJM has shown remarkable growth as an author and storyteller in this latest volume, telling not so much a story about exterior conflict as the others have done, but much more difficult and nuanced story about internal growth. The themes of depression, PTSD, trust, and healing show a story that was more interesting and relatable than all the other books combined. Nesta is a complex and powerful character who comes face to face with her own demons and finds her way to healing with other female friends at her side. I think the development of those friendships is something I liked most about this story, demonstrating the power and importance of women supporting women. I look forward to the next book now with this new, stronger family.

Best book in the series, but it feels unfinished. Lots of threads left hanging.

i had fun with the themes and the new characters and backstories. unfortunately the villain and the twist are both boring as shit. the evil plan is ridiculously convoluted to the point where i was like “okay i’m going to stop trying to make sense of this and just move on.” and just like with the acotar novella, this suffers from my least favorite romance trope of all fucking time. it is unbearable.

but. i still love the world and the characters so it was still a fun read. i will miss you acotar until next time.

i do like nesta though. i am a stan.

Nesta’s development in this book was fantastic! Wasn’t the biggest fan of Rhys in this one at times but this also was told in Feyre’s POV so maybe it gave some truth to him.
Overall loved it and Nesta, Emerie and Gwyn were my FAVORITE!

I knew I loved the action and plot-driven parts of ACOTAR, but I didn't realize how much I like the lead ups SJM's explosive endings until this book. This book was more romance and character driven, while I prefer plot and a sense of tension to be the forefront. There was important things happening, but a lot of it felt background. I decided on 4 stars. It's probably my least favorite of the series so far. I did enjoy learning about Nesta, though. She's insanely badass, and her arc was well done. The knew characters and added found family were amazing as well. This book feels more like a setup for the next one, to be honest. Alot of things were unanswered and hinted at.

I would like to say that after the first couple of smut scenes, I grew tired of them very quickly. They were unnecessary, and I ended up skimming most of them. I think the book could've benefitted from being shorter and cutting a few of those scenes.

This was arguably one of my least favorite books in the series (ACOFAS takes the cake there). This is only more obvious as it took me 2 months to finish because the first half was sooooo slow. While I never liked Nesta, this book only made me like her a little more.

I think I may have fallen victim to this book being so hyped that the book definitely did not live up to the hype. The action was good as expected from SJM but all the pity party that Nesta was doing (aside from the obvious PTSD and depression she was going through) got boring really quickly. In fact, it made me like Elaine more for her giving it back to Nesta. The book also gave me more appreciation for Cassian but he's still not my favorite bat boy for unrelated reasons 🤷🏽‍♀️

Anyway sorry to all those die hard fans of this book but it was not for me...the first three books were tons better in my opinion.

As I read this I found myself inspired by Nesta and wanting to be like her so much it got me going to the gym again, I fear it’s highly unlikely I’ll ever be able to walk 10,000 stairs with my non fae knees and human asthma but I still want to try my best to be open and love my family and be a sick Valkyrie.

I love the continuation of the main story. I love seeing Nesta’s healing journey and the new friends she makes, but it did not need 750+ pages. It created pacing issues that made the big events less impactful.
