Option 1: Schumer is funny, down to earth, honest person.
Option 2: Amy is a lying narcissistic joke stealer.
I'm really torn on this one. Either way, the book was exactly what I thought it'd be when my hubs bought it at BJs for me last year.

But more than anything else I am grateful that there are so many interesting, troubled, funny, wise, extraordinary female voices that I can read and relate to and be horrified and inspired by.

Surprisingly really enjoyed this book, I didn't think I would as I have a kind of love/hate relationship with Amy Schumer. She makes me laugh at some points and is just too crude in others (from what I've seen), but reading her book made me see the person beneath all of this hard work she has put in to get to where she is now. It made me think about my own situation a lot. I also have a very crude sense of humour, and making people laugh has always been a huge passion for me. I've never, ever wanted to do stand up, but have been asked by family and friends whether I ever would.
Stand up aside, I would love to be in comedy movies, or making my own comedy movies. And reading her book showed me the amount of work Amy put in. I have always seen people in America already have a foot in the door because they are such a huge, well-known country, that pumps out movie stars, and comedians. But they worked hard to be there (most of them), and Amy Schumer is one of those people.
I would recommend this book to read.

After reading through the comments, I felt so disappointed by other readers who seemed to have missed the whole point of the book: Amy Does Not Care. Of course, as she explained, it's hard not to take criticism to heart, but it's just apart of her life now. I sincerely laughed out loud and even cried during her story. She was so very honest and vulgar and sweet. She explains that she is aware she isn't the skinniest of women and it's so sad to me that she feels obligated to say that. Regardless, I felt for her. The entire time. Her home life is a mess and yet she sees the positivity in it - including the multiple affairs by her parents, her dad's MS, her mom's inability to face reality and Amy's abusive relationships. She lays it all out on the table and regardless if you liked it or not - you gotta respect it.

Amy is hilarious and honest . In her first memoir she has stories that will make you laugh, cry, and root for her. She shows a vulnerable side to her and talks about hard to hear subjects such as mental health, abuse, society's images of women, and gun policies. She also talks about more lighthearted stories and how her passion for live standup and working hard landed her to be one of the top paid female comedians to date. Basically Felt like I was reading a story about my best friend because that's what Amy does. She engages her reader to feel no shame and pure comfort and pride in who they are. No apologies. This book is a must read!

This book will make you laugh to the point of tears and maybe cry at times.
Amy does actually get really real a few times here and those particular chapters are very touching and important.
This book has given me a very new perspective and love for Amy Schumer. And this is a great read! (Or listen cause that's how I enjoyed this book).
