Questo libro mi ha lasciato opinioni ambivalenti. L'autore dà ottimi e affascinanti spunti e mostra notevoli intuizioni circa la cultura neoliberista odierna. Allo stesso tempo, la sua analisi non è molto organica e le sue argomentazioni e connessioni logiche sono più affermate che elaborate; ciò è però dovuto anche alla forma breve e incisiva dell'esposizione, che rende la lettura più scorrevole e gradevole. Avrei apprezzato maggiore chiarezza e organizzazione a livello concettuale e strutturale, dato che, nonostante una generale coerenza e dei leitmotiv ricorrenti, il libro fatica a mostrare le connessioni tra argomenti e il fluire non è naturale. Inoltre l'argomentazione, quando non è quasi banalmente scarna e semplice, risulta criptica nel suo pauperismo. In ogni caso, fornisce ottimi spunti di riflessione.

There's too many quotes. i found the first chapters innovative and very interesting but it got repetitive way too fast for such a short book. i take the ideas but didn't really enjoyed reading it

This is my second Han book, the first one being The crisis of narration. With that book I approved practically everything that was stated. With this one, I have some issues.
Generally, I agree that the detrimental effect of the loss of rituals is something we should take seriously. However, at a certain moment Han admires duels and war fought with dignity, where the self disappears and that there are rules to be obeyed. Combine that with Han's idea of the loss of the self for the community and you have a dangerous cocktail that created the Kamikazi fighters in World War 2: sacrificing their lives with rituals for the great Empire.
