An intellectual stimulating book for rethinking how we discuss opinions and ideas. A breath of fresh ideas in a time where standing by you thoughts and arguing to win verse to learn is the norm. This book gave me things to implement in both my work life and personal life
"We go into preacher mode when our sacred beliefs are in jeopardy: we deliver sermons to protect and promote our ideals. We enter prosecutor mode when we recognize flaws in other people’s reasoning: we marshal arguments to prove them wrong and win our case. We shift into politician mode when we’re seeking to win over an audience: we campaign and lobby for the approval of our constituents. The risk is that we become so wrapped up in preaching that we’re right, prosecuting others who are wrong, and politicking for support that we don’t bother to rethink our own views."
A book centered on convincing the reader of the importance of shaking yourself from routine thinking. Also presents strategies for understading and convincing others, and fostering a more constructive workplace culture.
Somehow the book lacked that little something - all of it made good sense and likely was based on reserach but neither the main points nor the anecdotes were that exciting or novel.

This book is about having a scientifc mindset on what you know. Its core tenent is to evaluate and reavalute what you know. Being open to ideas.
I connect this book to the idea of
* Growth mindest vs Fixed mind.
* Agile emperical thinking
* Learning organizations
* Non-violent comunication.
I value what Grant writes about Conventional vs. Alternative View of Intelligence, The Blessing of Being Wrong, Motivational Talking, The power of imposter syndrome.
The book is full of tools to help you and others to think scientifically.
In the shaper about Motivational Talking, includes the following points:
1. open-ended questions
2. reflective listening, and
3. encouragement to change.
This is a good starting point for building a growth mindset or a learning organisation.

In Think Again, Adam Grant talks about why it is important to re-think the things that we believe we know. To be clear, I don't necessarily think that this book is for everyone. For me though, it was eye opening reading this and recognizing my own poor communication habits that I employ with my co-workers. In every chapter, I felt like he was speaking directly to me. Embracing his material, I believe, will lead me to communicate better with people both personally and professionally. It's also very timely as he addresses the current problems that exist between people who have different perspectives, political stances, and values. It's definitely a book that I plan on reading again.
This book might be the way out of clinical depression
I read this book with the self-development book club at work. I typically stay away from the “self-help” category because I tend to find much of the genre is fluff masquerading as wisdom, but this year I told myself I wanted to expand the types of literature I ingest, so I joined. The first book we read confirmed my opinions of the genre (Atomic Habits by James Clear), but I am happy to announce this book made me rethink my beliefs! *badumtss*
I love the way Adam Grant shares his stories and ideas. Never once did I not feel engaged during my personal reading experience, and during the book club, our 1hr session to 1 chapter ratio always felt too short for the multitude of conversations this book’s contents sparked. I think I might reread this book every year to remind myself how to know what I don’t know.
I am excited to continue with book club, I am excited to share this book with my friends and family, and I am excited to see where rethinking might take me next!
