An absolutely gorgeous, gorgeous book. Haunting to read after 2020. I loved the twisting timelines and perspectives and finally seeing all the connections form and play out and pass. I want to know everything about this world and every single character.

I found it really tough to not get more invested/interested in Kirsten’s story than the rest of the POV characters, which made much of Clark’s section feel a bit dragging (sometimes it felt long enough to explore how they avoided malnutrition or how their governance worked or what was important in trading, but those were deemed unimportant). But I think the simplicity of the resolution
around the prophet’s storyline
made it clear that it was a me problem, primarily. It did feel a bit odd that everyone’s storylines converged
except Jeevan’s
