3.5 stars, I so far have found this series very entertaining and a good read but not the most depth. This book flowed better then the first one in the series but I still think is not quiet all there.

True Rating: 4.5/5 Stars
Content/Trigger Warnings: Violence, slight descriptions of gore, attempts to use magic to encourage sex
My Thoughts
I was extremely excited to return to this world. I loved "The Invisible Library"; it was a fast-paced, fun, easy read that gave me a lot of enjoyment and a good break from the novels I'd been reading that were trying to take themselves too seriously.
"The Masked City" continues that same vibe. The action starts from pretty much the first page, and it continues all the way to the end, with the only interludes being necessary information gathering and interactions between old and new characters. I loved learning more about the way things work in the world(s) of this series. Irene remains a very realistic main character: she's got plenty of power and skills, but she still makes the same mistakes a normal person would make, or encounters situations that she needs help with.
If I had to complain about anything, it's that because of the plot, I didn't get to see more interaction between Irene and Kai. So, naturally, I can't wait to pick up book three!

After finishing The first book in this series I immediately downloaded and second and I'm glad there are more to come.
I'm really enjoyed following the characters of the Invisible Library and love that the books foundation is a library, because I love books so much.
It's mystical and magical and intriguing. I am really enjoying this author and the narration is great too, evoking excitement and emotion that you sometimes dont get with narrators.
Cant wait for book 3 in the series.

A portion of this book felt a little slow and meandering to me with some sporadic action thrown in, but it really picked up nicely at the end. I did enjoy the world building and learning a bit more about how the different types of beings function within the worlds. I also enjoyed the fairytale tropes that were mixed into this story.

I liked this one even better than the first, I thought the idea of a place where stories wanted to happen and the trick of solving a mystery in such a place was a delightful and fresh idea

I realized how much I liked the interaction between Irene, Kai and Vale when there was so much less of it for this book.

A feisty heroine. Dragons. Fae. Beautiful Venice. What’s not to love. Maybe more of Irene & Kai together instead of most of the story apart. But hey… you can’t have everything.

I didn't like it as much as I liked the Invisible Library. But it was OK. Less Kai :-D
The Language is making Irene a bit too powerful.
