Yea so I loved the Wool trilogy which was why I picked this up. However this was nothing like Wool. The only thing in common was apocalyptic setting.

First of all, I thought the idea of a world covered in sand was pretty original. This was intriguing and the idea of sand diving mimicking diving lnto water was original as well as the suits. The author gave us an interesting family dynamic to follow and fleshed out rather nicely. Many elements early on were excellent. However as the boom went on, it made less and less sense.

The big deal regarding "Danver" and then....nothing. It's just dangling there with no more mention or importantanxd. Just dropped from storyline. Then there is the ending, what happen? I don't know too vague. The whole world being covered in sand. Why? What happened d? Where is back story? Little too cut and. Dry for me

A brutal, but fully realized world. The characters felt absolutely real, heartbreaking in so many ways but weirdly hopeful too.

Howey is edging his way into must-read territory for me. Another great dystopian novel from him.

Just like Wool, this was a story I didn't want to end. It was brilliant and well done, of course the ending left me wanting to know more! BLAH!

(Forgot to rate it here earlier). I LOVED LOVED LOVED Hugh Howey's 'Wool' and its sequels/prequels. I can't say enough good things about that series. I was so psyched when he published 'Sand', I bought it immediately and was exited to start it. I hated it. It dragged. I didn't care about the characters or the setting. It just wasn't the same. I really wanted to like it, even to love it, but I just can't. I couldn't even finish it.

Some author's you have to drop everything for...

...and Hugh Howey is one of them. When a new Hugh Howey book is available, I'm forced to stop what I'm currently reading to find out what bit of awesomeness he has created for me this time.

Sand delivers. It's touching AND exciting. Obviously Hugh and I share a common believe that there is nothing more important than family...you might say blood runs thicker than sand.

And I'm pretty sure I now have a phobia of being buried alive in sand. Thank you for that Hugh.

There was way more swearing than I will typically tolerate, and honestly it was a huge source of frustration for me while reading Sand. Hugh did mention several times this would be the case, but I still wish it wasn't there.

But if you don't mind being slammed in the face by four-letter-words, I can't recommend Sand enough. And if you haven't already read everything Hugh Howey has written you are already WAY late to the party, so get moving!

Hugh Howey created another interesting dystopia world. Instead of being buried in Silos the characters in this story are trying to stay atop of the ever increasing sand.

Sand is nearly continuously blown in from the east. The sand fills every aspect of the characters lives. Some have jobs as sissyfoots and haul sand away from water pumps (fairly straight forward allusion to Sisyphus).

Others learn the trade of diving. They travel through the sand looking anything that may be scavenged.

This story splits its time between members of a somewhat dysfunctional family. It is a story of treasures found and battles fought.

I thought the world came through pretty well. The ending of this book was somewhat abrupt. I would have enjoyed reading some of the details of one of the characters actions at the end.

If Hugh Howey writes more stories in this world I would read them.

Buu. Co się stało z końcem? Trzeba to napisać, bo terminy gonią?
