Not my favorite Grisham. The synopsis had me waiting for Sooley to become a star for half the book. I wouldn't have minded if I wasn't expecting it, but I was. And.i really didn't like the ending. That said, it was an easy listen, and as with most Grisham novels, I liked the characters a lot. He has a real.gift for creating fascinating people; love them or hate them, I always want to know more about them

Another reviewer called this book and plot an emotional manipulation and I completely agree. I really enjoyed this book and was ready to give it 4 stars up until about chapter 55. Just stop reading there. The last 40 pages aren’t worth it. He clearly hates his characters.
Would have given 5 stars but the end ruined the whole book for me
