A sports book instead of a legal book this time around. But as usual John Grisham is on it.

Loved the backdrop and beginning and middle of the story but really hated the ending. Seems unrealistic given all the previous information didn’t match up

The story is about Samuel Sooleymon, who dreams to make it big in the basketball world. Sooleymon is a young basketball player who gets selected to represent South Sudan in America. What ensues is a brilliant story of grit, fortitude and passion. The ending is unexpected. https://booksfoodmylife.blogspot.com/2023/08/sooley-by-john-grisham.html

This is NOT like any other Grisham novel. This was recommended by my librarian and honestly by the time I got to this book in my stack, I forgot it what was about. I reread what it was about and was very discouraged and even starting it and couldn’t remember why I did! However, I’m glad I did. I follow sports, not a crazy fan. However I found myself living through life on a 3rd world country on samuels eyes, then following the basketball games as if I was in person watching. The ending I did not expect.

Overall this was a great read. Left me feeling thankful for being an American citizen and reminded me how many people don’t have the same opportunities and need our help.
