Not a review, but...
1. I wonder how long you have to live in Chapel Hill before you feel compelled to write about college basketball... ;-p
2. I can't believe he (Grisham, not Sooley/Samuel) did that [giant spoiler]!

Not usually the type of book I would choose, but it came highly recommended. Never expected to cry either! A fantastic story.

This was a really frustrating book to read. Grisham is a great story-teller, although even though I’ve never read any of his sports books, I could anticipate what was going to happen. Still, I was engaged. But I felt he really did not understand South Sudanese culture and the refugee experiences, and barely acknowledged the culture shock Sooley and others would deal with.
A diamond in the rough, rags to riches story written like a grad student who lost a bet. Unsure how it was a #1 NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLER.
Beautifully written. Likeable characters that connect with you and will have you laugh, cheer, and cry with them.
