This book offers an interesting look into Angela Merkel’s political career as well as her upbringing in the DDR. However, I can only give it 3 stars because it felt more like a retelling of events rather than a deep personal reflection. I also would have liked more behind-the-scenes insights. I was disappointed that she seemed to fully stand by her past decisions without much hindsight reflection. Additionally, the book is quite long, and at times, Merkel’s monologue gets lost in excessive detail that doesn’t add much value.
