This is the second book I've read by Palahniuk. I read Fight Club years ago and forgot how I liked Palahniuk’s prose. The plot was wild and kind of gross at times, but I liked the nonlinear story-telling and the plot twists.

"Find what you're afraid of most, and go live there."
I really deeply enjoyed listening to this book. It is infused with satire, which makes the harsh realities that it deals with almost comical, but that is also what makes them appear so real.

what I loved most about this book was its transgressive nature - the ideas of beauty, gender, sexuality & identity as a whole are explored & questioned. Palahniuk has such a particular way of writing that is poetically existential & utterly thought-provoking.

another aspect of this book that I found intriguing was the way it would jump back & forth to different times. it acted almost like a puzzle for me to complete as I read. & because of that, it kept me hooked and unable to put the book down.

overall I rate the book a 4 stars, only because the jumping back & forth was a /little/ confusing for me at times - not to mention the different aliases the characters went by! & because of that, it's not the type of story you can read a chapter of & leave for a while before returning.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anybody - although written 22 years ago, it still holds so much validity in today's society - probably more now than it did then.
