Whoa. This book was intense. And a ridiculously quick read. It reminded me of one of those suspense movies where you spend the majority of it feeling lost and confused, and then everything comes together at the end and blows your mind.
In addition, in the book, just when you thought things couldn't get any weirder, they did. I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would. The way Palahniuk tells the story is very fractured and all over the place, but it works. And rather than having one OMG moment like most of them, this one is chock full of them. I just finished it and I'm still pretty much in a state of shock. Completely blown away.
When it was over, I felt sad. I wanted more.
I'll be reading more of his work.

I looked up a list of best plot twists
...and yeah, this fits the bill. You have to stick with it though, all the way to the last three or so chapters. Which is the stuff of a good plot twist.

I have never felt so fooled by a narrator. time and time again I continued to trust wholeheartedly in her words. with every twist and turn I grew more intrigued and trusting. loved this book.

quality of writing: 10/10 enjoyment: 1/10 pc: 297 i really fucking hated this book it was so fucked up and grotesque and gore-y and disturbing and i don’t recommend it. was pretty upset about some of (a lot of) the content matter, then i found out chuck palahniuk is queer… still don’t feel super good about it though. it IS very well written and raised a lot of really complex questions buT was very dark and nihilistic and depressing and it made me feel really gross. just not for me
