I did not know Knut Hamsun could write so well. This is one of the most intense love stories I read lately.

“Such was love. It could ruin a man, raise him again, and then brand him anew; it could fancy me today, you tomorrow, and someone else tomorrow night, that’s how fickle it was.”

a short pure love story. loved it from the beginning till the end. Victoria and Johannes will always be in my heart. I highlighted many things. Loved the author’s description of everything. I’m a little bit annoyed about the ending, but let’s just keep it there.

great classic.

you know what? i only read this novel because it bears my name. was hoping for some worshippment to boost my pretensiousness but it was just kind of; boring. its written by a norwegian natzi sympathizer so i was able to read it in its original lanugage and i had to sit through 6 classes analyzing it - so i know what im talking bout here. i don’t think Hamsun deserves any of his books to be classified as «classics» and if he was still alive i would probably have a hate page about him
