This book will always have an exceptionally warm place in my heart for its lovely representation of ADHD love: it serves as a rare example of a touchy subject (undiagnosed and questionably managed AHDH in a partner) handled with the compassion and care all parties deserve while not sacrificing the joy (or blunders) that come with the territory or turning it into an after school special. A tricky balance to strike but Wilsner absolutely succeeded.

They also succeeded in creating a v. steamy romp that should keep everyone praying for that women’s league spin-off of Ted Lasso (complete with prayers for it to include Hannah Waddingham) happy until Apple gets its act together.

Phoebe gets recruited by the soccer team on which her idol and long-time crush from afar, Grace is captain. After a bad first impression, they quickly end up starting a friends-with-benefits relationship that turns into something more.
I really enjoyed this sapphic rom-com. I think part of the reason is I'm a mix of the Pheobe and Grace. ADHD, introvert, neurospicy. So, their unique and neurospicy relationship was highly relatable. I'm glad those types of characters are finally being written.
From the little I know about soccer; the writer did their research! There was some technical talk of the game and it sounded correct, at least to my untrained ear.
Overall an excellent romance with a good mix of humor and emotional elements. As well as a diverse cast of lovable characters! I'd love to see a sequel with another character from the cast as an MC.

Omgggg I absolutely fucking devoured this book and loved ittt. I will say if the miscommunication trope annoys you this might not be the book for you cause it has a lott of it that got kinda infuriating at times but that was literally my only complaint
I loved the characters, loved the character development, loved the story just ugh omg they were so cuteee

I am so glad I read this book! I love sapphic stories and women's soccer so I knew I would love this.

The characters are lovable, funny, and really well written. I love the self exploration in this book both with sexuality and neurodivergence. I think this book had really wonderful representation in it as well. It felt so natural for all the characters.

There is no slow burn, you get a lot of them together and the couple does not have a super blow up fight that is resolved in the last chapter which I liked a lot.

I will say, it took me a minute to really get into the story and then I feel like it wrapped up so quickly. I would for this book to be longer and get more into the story.

Thanks to St. Martin's Press for the free copy of this book.

 - I am of two minds about CLEAT CUTE. On the one hand, omggg sapphic grumpy/sunshine soccer players, was this written for me?! Plus, Grace and Phoebe have great banter and superhot chemistry.
- However, for me, this was so much miscommunication around minor things that could be so easily solved, but every time they started to have a real conversation, they just stopped and slept with each other instead.
- (MINOR SPOILER) Additionally, so much of Grace's half of the plot revolves around her assuming that her injury is about to end her career for good, when the injury is essentially a pulled muscle. This is an objectively ridiculous thing for a pro athlete with 10+ years of experience to think.
- On the other other hand, I am deeply enjoying how each of Wilsner's books is an order of magnitude spicier than the previous book.
