There's a lot of bad reviews on here of this book but I liked it. There was a lot of the beginning that was exactly like the movie. Then the twist happens and within the twist there is still a bit of familiar scenes.
The characters were familiar. There is violence and death to highlight the dark spin within the familiar Disney scenes.
Was it a great book? Nah
Was it an amazing "retelling" of the story? Nope
It was however a fun, quick read with a bit of a dark twist on a familiar movie from childhood.

What a way to kick off a new anthology series. I love all things Disney! This was so fun and creative.

I don’t remember the original story so there is no basis of comparison. Feels like the usual fairytale plot.

This is the kind of story that would be much better enjoyed in an animated film to bring out the magical elements in it. But not a bad read.
