O Deadly Night was one of my favorite anthologies last year and this year's did not disappoint. There were several new authors such as Alex J. Adams, Sean Azinsalt, Briar Kearney, Alexis Jane, Jack L. Pyke, Remi Varlow, and Duckie Mack. I was familiar with Bey Deckard, Abrianna Denae, Elouise R East, MJ Green, K.L. Hiers, Leigh Kenzie, Reese Knightley, R. Phoenix, and Adara Wolf.

By far Davidson King's Silent Night was my favorite story in the collection. The author introduces us to her two main characters a human and a Nephilim. I have not read any books, that I remember, that have characters that are in the ranks of angels or demons so this was all new to me. It was fascinating. I hope there will be more of it to come. It is past Christmas but it is never too late for a slate of good stories. Treat yourself.

This was such a fabulous collection of books by wonderful authors. I received this book to read Duckie Mack's 'He Sees You When You're Sleeping' and I thought it was great. I'm so used to reading such sweet things from Duckie that it was a great change to read something dark, and it was amazing. Duckie did a great job with Archie and Chase, but I also liked all the other stories in this book. This is a great collection to get and well worth the time to read.

Arc read for All I Claim by Abrianna Denae
5 stars
I was lucky enough to get an arc if abris contributed to this, and oh boy, all the Tennant and Hollis introduction as a couple through not so normal measures awesomeness! This lovely short story let's us readers know how consensual kidnapping became the awesomeness that really only Abrianna can pull off

Here are reviews for the 12 short stories I read and finished. (I mostly skipped stories that were supposed to be placed in between books in an ongoing series I did not read, or were clear spin-offs and so a previous knowledge of characters seemed necessary. Correct me if I am wrong about that.) I bought a copy of the anthology, this is NOT an ARC. Order of the stories as they appear in the anthology.

"Prelude to Madness" by Alex J. Adams: (4*) well, this was some Inception shit

I finished three stories from this anthology, DNFed a couple others, and wasn't interested in the rest. The stories I finished were:

Here Comes Santer Claus by K.L. Hiers- (3 stars)
Expectations by Adara Wolf and R. Phoenix (3 stars)
Hawk by Reese Knightley (3 stars)

They were all good 3 star reads and two set up what I hope will be new series.

Dᴇᴄᴋ ᴛʜᴇ Hᴀʟʟs ᴡɪᴛʜ Vᴇɴɢᴇᴀɴᴄᴇ by Briar Kearney | O Deadly Night Vol. 2
3 Maple Leafs | 2 Flames
Matteo & Leif

Matteo and Leif are happy and loving life until everything goes wrong while Leif is at work on Christmas day and Matteo is forced to save the man he loves.

Matteo and Leif have a very strong connection to each other and you can feel Matteo's rage pouring off the pages as he searches for Leif.

While I enjoyed the novella as a whole, I did feel that there were spots that were a little choppy and caused a little bit of a flow issue for me. I would love to read Matteo and Leif's full story to see if it would boost my enjoyment of the story.

An all-around decent debut solo book for Briar Kearney and I will definitely read her books in the future.

Get ready for…

MM | Mafia | Law Enforcement (Police) | Forbidden | Established Couple | Holiday (Christmas) | Murder is a Love Language | Dark | Suspense | Third-Person (Dual)

Be mindful that this book contains topics that may be triggering to some readers.

I read Alex J Adams Prelude to Madness and Duckie Mack's He Sees You When You're Sleeping. I'll talk about Prelude to Madness first.

Prelude to Madness was a mind bender of massive proportions. Just when you thought you had it figured out Alex comes in and flips everything upside down! It was wonderful. The heat was high too. It was a perfect short story with a perfect twist!

He Sees You When You're Sleeping is a stalker story. It's really dark for Duckie but she pulled it off spectacularly. I thought Chase was going to figure it out but within this story he never does. But honestly, even if he did I don't think he would've cared all that much. A great stalker story for sure.

Definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the stories in this book!

* I read an arc of Silent Knight by Davidson King *

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/6.
🌶️/5.

Every Davidson's story is a cozy read to me and this was no different.
Senon, Erza's guardian angel, is a unique being with a special mission.
Erza only seemed to have bad luck until certain things started happening but he was always protected from them so real harm would come to him.
Some evil forces are bent on taking Erza but Senon won't let them touch a hair on Erza's head.

Senon is such an adorable being. He was precious! He and Erza were so cute together.
I really had a good time with this one.
