I love Tillie Walden’s art and storytelling. The only hard part for me with this was that it was autobiographical and that is always a genre I have trouble with. Would still recommend!

might make this a 5 star at some point but it's a 4.5 right now!

I am so obsessed w Walden’s work. This one was hard to get through- not because it wasn’t good, but it was really heavy at points. It is sometimes a bit disjointed and the pacing isn’t always comprehensible, but I get that it might be on purpose, as real memories often feel the same. Will be reading the rest of her stuff for sure. ❤️

If there are Mount Rushmore of comic book creators, Tilly Walden would be up there next to Will Eisner. This book could be used as a textbook on how to make amazing comics. Walden's ability to use imagry to not only illustrate the story but you add to it to tell more of it, it is visual storytelling at its finest. While this book is about ice skating it's obviously not just about ice skating it's one of the deepest and heaviest books I have ever read.
Graphic: Sexism, Bullying, and Homophobia
Moderate: Outing and Sexual assault
Due to the time in which it takes place, any story involving a character coming out is going to be rife with homophobia. Well it is definitely a aspect of the story it is not the whole story.
