My favorite line throughout the whole book.

Woah! This book is everything. The dual POV is AMAZING! The sass in this book is REAL. The one liners will leave you shocked or make you laugh.
Jessica is the biggest celebrity entertainment journalist. Everyone knows that she is the best. Tyler is Hollywood's biggest playboy, and maybe a little intimated by Jessica. The hate they have for each other is real. But, they are both doing their jobs. When Jessica's next big job is to go on tour with Tyler and his team for the next 30 days, she wonders if she will survive. Tyler and Jessica decide to call a truce...knowing this is the only way to get through the next month. The things you do for your job! Obstacles get in Jessica's way. Not in a good way. You learn to keep your enemies close..but sometimes your enemy is unbearable.

โ€œAll day.โ€ My lips kiss her lightly, my heart beating, my chest heaving. โ€œAll week. Scratch that, for two weeks Iโ€™ve wanted you more than Iโ€™ve ever wanted anything in my life.โ€

After loving and devouring the second book in this series I had to have the first book as well. I wanted to know if it was just as good. Just as sexy. Just as sweet. And yes, holy yes it was.

It is enemies to lovers story. Yep, Jessica hates Tyler and he hates her. She is an entertainment journalist and hunts for all the juicy and spicy bits of news, and since Tyler is the big star... However Tyler has ways to find out that she is about to do a story and nicks her spotlight by breaking the news himself. But for a tour for a movie they will need to be together (along with several others). You can imagine how awkward it is and how both of them are not happy to be there. Which I could definitely understand, but sadly sometimes you don't have a choice in the matter.

I am happy that we saw both Tyler and Jessica's perspective on the situation (and not only for that but also for characters because both of them were quite strong about how they feel about things and that at times gave a bit of an asshole vibe). It gave more insight and I could understand both sides of how they felt about things. Plus it was fun to see when those feelings changed for both of them. When each of them saw the attraction and were definitely interested in going much further than drooling. :P

Tyler's assistant? Hot dang, that woman was a mess. I never liked her. I found her rude, mean, and just downright bitchy. She hurt Jessica so so much, and with that also Tyler. In the end she did even more hurtful things, stuff that caused so much damage. :(

I felt sorry that both Jessica and Tyler had to hide their relationship. That we could see them connect and fall further in love, but yet had to hide it. Especially Jessica didn't want people to find out. But given her job, so she knows how it will blow up if she is found with the Hollywood Playboy. But still I was hoping that they would be able to come out of things, get a real relationship and not just have great dates (and wonderful sex) secretly.

As you can read, sex, yep, tons of sex. Many ways sex. These two are going for it, and it was very steamy. *fans herself*

I was also happy to see Kellie and Brian again, see scenes we saw in book 2, and also get even more of them during the ending.

The ending was really great, though I was crushed at first, but then it all got so much better and I was squeeing in delight.

All in all, fabulous characters, steamy sex scenes, hilarious situations, swoony moments.

I was so excited to see this released and could not wait to give it a listen, and I am so glad that I did! It's one of the best of the year for me so far! Tyler is an A list actor, going on tour for his upcoming blockbuster release. He is taking 10 journalists along for the ride, one being his nemisis, Jessica. And from there, the story goes. This enemies to lovers story is pack full of feels and emotions. Tyler is a great character, full of sincerity, the kind that is easy to fall for. Jessica on the hand is the character I really fell for. She is a consummate professional, and goes into this assignment with grace. I love how strong and independent she is, and yet, Tyler becomes her one vulnerability. It's an easy listen, had me completely caught up and kept me entertained the entire time.

Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross give this story their all. The performance is spot on. Kai's portrayal of Jessica gives her that determined undertone, never giving in and can turn on a dime to show that passionate, vulnerable side. Wen's smooth voice for Tyler will woo the best of them, and with Tyler, he makes him strong and emotional, showing that Tyler is more than his image. It's spectacular narration and one you do not want to miss.

I honestly read this for a challenge. It was eh.

Hollywood Playboy was an okay book. I totally felt and liked the romance but other than that.. meh. In it, you will meet Jessica and Tyler. They were cute in their own way.. but ugh, I just couldn't get into this story. Maybe it was work.. okay it totally was work.

They had their funny moments and swoon worthy moments.. but I've read much better smut if I'm being honest. I don't know when I got super picky but now it's a thing. I did, however, enjoy this book and I can totally see myself diving into the second book of this series.

Hollywood Playboy Review
Hollywood Playboy by Natasha Madison

Narrated by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross
Standalone in a series. Contemporary Romance

"He's beautiful, but it's nothing new. After all, he's Hollywood's golden boy."

Tyler Becket is about to embark on a month-long press junket around the world to promote his new movie, and some of the worldโ€™s top reporters are invited along on the tour. Jessica Hawthorn is one of the top entertainment reporters, and sheโ€™s number one on the list. Unfortunately, she and Tyler canโ€™t stand each other.
โ€œItโ€™s pretty safe to say you know that I donโ€™t want you here,โ€ he says, folding his arms over his chest and puffing it out more.
โ€œItโ€™s safe to say I donโ€™t want to be here any more than you want me here.โ€ I lean in to him, trying not to hiss. โ€œThe last thing I thought I would ever do was be stuck with you for thirty seconds, much less thirty gruelling days.โ€

Squeee! A Hollywood story AND enemies-to-lovers? Score!

Holywood Playboy by Natasha Madison

At first youโ€™re tempted to take Jessicaโ€™s side, because, you know, womenโ€™s solidarity or something, but then you quickly realize that Tyler Beckett, despite being a heart-throb star, is a good, down-to-earth guy.
โ€œHow can I let you be when I canโ€™t breathe without you? How can I let you be when half of my soul is missing when Iโ€™m not near you? Tell me how, Jessica, and Iโ€™ll leave you and never come back.โ€

I loved the behind-the-scenes Hollywood stuff, and I love that they had to keep their relationship under wraps. Though a few parts were a little bit predictable, it didnโ€™t matter because I enjoyed the ride getting there. Their journey from hate to love didnโ€™t happen overnight, and I love how it took itโ€™s time as they got to know each othersโ€™ truths.

Hollywood Playboy Quote

Told in dual point of view, I loved getting both sides. Natasha tends to repeat huge scenes from the end of one chapter to the next with the other characterโ€™s POV of the same exact scene. While I liked it to a point, when I started the next in the series right after, that style got a bit tiresome and repetitive.

Likes:

  • โ€ขDuet style.

  • โ€ขTyler is so down-to-earth and sweet.

  • โ€ขJessica a a strong, independent female lead.

  • โ€ขI just loved the whole behind the scenes of Hollywood thing.

  • โ€ขIt took time to go from hate to love.

  • โ€ขWonderful supporting cast.

  • โ€ขGood sexy times :)

Dislikes:

โ€ขThe style of the book is basically a chapter from her, then the same events from him. Sometimes it got repetitive and I thought I accidentally rewound for a second until I realize itโ€™s the same event told from his POV. I loved getting his POV, but all of the events didnโ€™t have to repeat.

The Narration:

Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are a power duo and I love both of their voices. This book seemed a tiny bit slower than usual and I did have to speed it up. But this got on my nerves: The male narrator (Wen Ross) fake laughed too much, every time she says 'he chuckles'. Especially because she never laughs, it stands out. If you SAY โ€œhe chucklesโ€ you donโ€™t need to chuckle. Putting that mirth in your voice is enough, or get rid of the descriptive tags.

The Down & Dirty:

I actually listened to Hollywood Playboy twice. The first time, I waited too long to review and didnโ€™t feel like I could give a good enough review. I listened again when I got Hollywood Princess, thinking that for some reason, it was a trilogy and I would get more of the same story. I was wrong, Hollywood Playboy stands completely alone. Iโ€™m not usually a Hollywood gossip kind of girl, but I just love books that take place in that world, and Hollywood Playboy was a sexy, slow-build enemies-to-lovers novel that checked all my boxes. On to the next!

Rating: 4 Stars, 4 Heat, 4 Narration
