This book did what I hoped it would. Challenged my preconceived notions of what it’s like to grow old and to love well.

A lot of sweet stories in this book. Too bad it was published in 2015 but still had only one token gay couple and one lesbian couple, no nonbinary representation at all. I don't read a lot of books about straight people, so these omissions were especially jarring. The book was organized such that each chapter contained pieces of each couple’s story broken up and categorized by common themes, which made it hard to follow and hard to get the full picture of each couple’s story; I would have preferred each story left intact and having its own chapter. Overall, all the stories felt like they were filtered through the author’s lens, like i was hearing her interpretation of people’s stories rather than actually hearing their stories. A good concept, but it could have been much better.
