An interesting start to the series. I enjoy all the politics, and the problems affecting Chang Geng, but im curious where the story will go from here.

i'm so invested. gu yun is so fucking dumb, i would die for him. the emotional intelligence of a wall, istg. love, love, loved the disability representation in the main lead!! chang geng is so down bad already and i'm right there with him lol. also very intrigued by the precarious political climate that's been set up so far; can't wait to see where this goes!

With this I am now diving into my second Priest Novel after guardian.

So far, I quite enjoy it. Normally I'm not really into steampunk stories but here this aspect never really bothered me. The way Priest integrates those elements into the story are so well-thought out and well-described.

The only thing that is kind of putting me off a little is this whole yifu/(grand)son dynamic. Not really a fan of that, but I'll see where it goes
