A real page-turner. I've been reading Dean Koontz for more than 30 years and he's still got it.
This series is amazing,.and I need more Jodie and Luther in the rest of the series.

Why had I never read Dean Koontz's work prior to The Silent Corner? I have no answer, but I am definitely a fan now. The Silent Corner was so intriguing and action-packed that I couldn't put i down & eagerly devoured The Whispering Room in the same way. Jane Hawk, the protagonist in both, is a complex, complicated character who is determined to avenge the tragic death of her husband and save her young son. She is highly trained, intelligent, resourceful, and creative. Koontz's prose is eloquent, beautifully descriptive, and highly evocative. I found myself rereading certain passages just to savor his descriptions of times and places. I certainly hope that he is hard at work on the next installment in this series because I am eager to experience another Jane Hawk adventure.

Here’s what this book is about:”In the wake of her husband's inexplicable suicide - and the equally mysterious deaths of scores of other exemplary individuals - Jane picks up the trail of a secret cabal of powerful players who think themselves above the law and beyond punishment. But the ruthless people bent on hijacking America's future for their own monstrous ends never banked on a highly trained FBI agent willing to go rogue - and become the nation's most wanted fugitive - in order to derail their insidious plans to gain absolute power with a terrifying technological breakthrough.”
I won a physical ARC of this book from Bookish First. I didn’t realize that this was the second book in a series so I went back and read the first book. I didn’t like the first book very much but I liked this book better. I liked the synopsis and the writing style of the book. When I was listening to the audiobook for this book, I wanted to keep listening. I liked Jane because she’s an FBI Agent. The only thing I don’t like about this book is that it ended on a cliffhanger just like the first book did. I’ve decided that I don’t want to continue with this series. I enjoyed this book and I liked Jane but I don’t really care about what happens in this story next.

Entertaining book. I actually liked this one better than "The Silent Corner" as it delves deeper into the story and has much more going on.

Scrappymags 3-word Review: My girl-crush continues!
Genre: Thriller/action/mystery
Shortest Summary Ever: Jane Hawk, rogue FBI agent continues hunting the people responsible for the death of her husband, but a full-on manhunt of Jane is underway as she's been put on the FBI's Most Wanted list. Oh snap!
What’s good under the hood: if you read my review of The Silent Corner you know Jane Hawk became my instant book girl crush - a badass who is smart, manipulative, tough, human and isn't some tacky damsel-in-distress cliche'. She's wicked smart. She's not falling while she's running or relying on some guy to save her. She's calculating and lethal. She's everything I want to be... in a book! That bad-ass nature continues here where deeper layers of the new Manchurianesque-world emerge.
The pacing is swift, the story sharp and pages flew by much like the first.
What’s bad or made me mad: The story didn't advance as much as it did in the first (a curse of many trilogies) so it's a 4.5 (I round up), but it was capable in moving fast enough to keep me in love with the series.
Recommend to: Fans of the first book! Definitely read the first book before reading this.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Ballantine and the author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review and making me feel like the greatest bad-ass chic on the face of the earth!
