The Vampire Prince by Darren Shan

The "Vampire Rites" Trilogy was probably my favourite in the Darren Shan Saga. It's a real departure from the first three, and the series ages with his readers. In the early books, the character really wrestles with being half human, and I think it gets tiresome for the reader. So this trilogy really develops Darren adopting the culture and vampire ways, and the stakes feel higher. I did think this book took too long to get going, he spent like 8 chapters frolicking with wolves.
One thing I wish the series would leave behind is the need to remind the reader of previous plot points, about 20 pages of each book does some serious rehashing.

Okay so...I love the series and I really like this book, but....BUT.... yeah I think it's not that good, on the one hand it's nice to see a bit in depth of the politics and you can feel the build up of the story that progresses to something big, but let's talk about Darren. Why is he such an a**hole? Like they helped him, they believed him(it's so unrealistic) and then he did nothing for his friend that has actually good points and talked logically! Like you can see that the vampires are really into their habits and sometimes it darkens their thinking but this was too much 😅

Otherwise I still love it and I am looking forward to read more...I am just angry a bit

I thought these were children's books?
The emotions I feel in these books is amazing and so much would be looked if I read these as a child and I'm so glad I get to experience it now
The books in this series are always amazingly written

This is when Darren truly begins to question the vampiric law, and I'm excited to see how the rest of the story will change after this book. The ending left me grinning. I'm so ready to keep reading.

“They forget that the vampaneze were once our brothers, that by destroying them, we destroy a part of ourselves. Most vampire never realize how pointless and savage war truly is. You were smart enough to see through the truth. Don't ever forget it.”

My favorite in the series so far! Vampire culture is finally explained a bit more and Darren has redeemed himself as a worthy vampire.

I am- BAFFLED. omg

This book was amazing & I am excited to read the next six books In the series! (There is 12 altogether)

Darren Shan is such a love-able character that I can’t even stop from lowkey wanting to marry him-

But that aside, Crepsley was amazing in this book as well, and it’s nice seeing how Harkat reacts to everything & how sweet he is in this novel.

I highly recommend this one as well.

Darren has royally ticked off the Vampire clan, and if he returns to Vampire Mountain, he faces certain death. But in The Vampire Prince, Darren has no choice. He can't sit back and let a traitor take over, especially when a prophecy about a Vampeneze Lord floats around. Cirque du Freak is just a wonderful series. Easy-to-read with fast-paced action, the books tell an engaging story with fascinating characters.
