This is definitely not my normal kind of romance genre. I barely step into any type of mafia/MC, but here we are with a cartel AND motorcycle club.

Morally grey? Yes. Violent? Yes. Crazy hot? Yes.

Gunner is actually kind of sweet. He’s the softer one. I just don’t know how to explain it. He’s forward. He’s open. He’s very much about the woman. And his guns. Hello, he’s Gunner.

Ryan… well she’s a bad b. I LOVE her. There’s something sinister about how she deals with her emotions. She cares for people in her unique way. She also lets them go as easy as they come into her life. The way she can be an absolute beast with a knife and her fists. I love her.

I took a bit of time reading this. I just wanted to stay in their world a little bit. The ending twist I didn’t expect. The Easter eggs for the next books are exciting!

I just love how violent and sexy this couple is. That’s all. Even with the mustache on Gunner.

Me describing the plot of this book to my husband will live in my memory forever 😂

💀 motorcycle romance
💀 cartel romance
💀 dark romance
💀 tension filled banter
💀 femme rage
💀 interconnected stand-alone series

Plot:
Ryan is an absolute bad a$$ FMC who has a lead role in the Mexican cartel. She is told she has to partner with a local MC, Skeletons of Society ☠️ for some less than legal business. And of course, she’s gotta work with a Jax Teller look-a-like, Gunner, who gets the kitty purring.

First and foremost, the tension in this book is criminally hot 🔥 I think I have discovered a thing for whispering in my ear lol. And I loved the FMC and how fierce she was. Her inner monologue could not be more relatable.

There are a few grammatical errors in the paperback but it’s indie. Just needs a little editing and it might be fixed in kindle so idk

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
🌶️🌶️ (just cuz not a lot but it’s HOT AF)

Holy WOW. I was not ready for this book. I loved it and everything about it. As it always is with these dark romances, read the TW/CW.

What I loved?
🖤 Ryan - this FMC is a total baddie that can hold her own but was not afraid to become a puddle for Gunner. I loved how she handled people who underestimated her and all of her shades of grey. Top 3 FMC right here
🖤 Gunner - 👀 Em, he is just a short circuit waiting to happen.
🖤 The side characters 😂 Nikki and Dex were fantastic. Dex is hilarious and Nikki was such a supportive and funny friend
🖤 The banter and tension - I could live on those 2 things alone, it was top tier 😮‍💨
🖤 THE PLOT TWIST - WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. HECK I knew something was amiss but for some reason I just didn’t put 2 and 2 together
🖤 The spice - There was only 2-3 major scenes, yet they were 😳🥵🫠

Ryan is the "adopted" daughter of the head of the cartel and is in charge of the gun running in Tuscon. The cartel forms a deal with the Skeletons of Society MC. Gunner is a Sargent of Arms for the MC and is the go between with the cartel. Their first meeting was hilarious. I loved how she put all the men in their place and does not take any of their misogynistic bullshit. Their attraction was instantaneous. You could feel the chemistry betwern them. My only complaint is that their connection was very surface level and was more on physical attraction than anything deeper. I wish more time had been spent developing their relationship, especially if we are to believe they get a HEA after everything that happened.

Ryan is a badass FMC. She is strong and incredibly fierce. Gunner is possessive of Ryan, but knows when to get out of her way. She stands on her own two feet and takes care of herself and the women she protects in her club.

Honestly, my favourite characters were the side characters - Dex, Scar, and Nikki. They added so much to this book and I cannot wait to read Scars book!

The big twist and bad guy reveal were not as shocking as I was hoping, there were some pretty big clues throughout the book.

Tropes: MC romance, Cartel, Instalust, badass FMC, forced proximity, dark romance

Ryan, a girl found on the street by a cartel heir, turns into the top enforcer of the organization an absolutely take no shit type of character which I LOVE!  Then we have Gunner the Sgt. at Arms for a local Arizona MC. Gunner underestimates Ryan at their first meeting. However, Gunner soon finds out that she's more than he's bargained for but maybe that's a good thing. The thing about this book is not only is it twist and turn-y but it's also funny. In my opinion if you've seen the show Burn Notice you'll love this book as much as I did.
