almost did what it came to do but the second act does become rly superficial and just semantically driven

“Something is good not because it is achieved,
but because another kind of truth about the human situation, another experience of what it is to be human - in short, another valid sensibility - is being revealed”

There is nothing more camp than Susan Sontag’s how to guide on Camp.

I cackled, I cried, I googled a shit ton of references I didn’t understand. Awestruck is the only word that comes close to describing the feeling of this book.

Notes on ‘Camp’:
- “And one cheats oneself, as a human being, if one has respect only for the style of high culture, whatever else one may do or feel on the sly.”
- “Camp taste is a kind of love, love for human nature. It relishes, rather than judges, the little triumphs and awkward intensities of ‘character’.”

One Culture and the New Sensibility:
- “The most interesting works of contemporary art are full of references to the history of the medium; so far as they comment on past art, they demand a knowledge of at least the recent past.”
