I had to bail because I just could not get past Jackson’s “southern” dialect. As some one who grew up in the Texas Hill Country, he was just so cliche and stereotypical.

dnf at 80% but i’m just gonna mark this as read because i’m basically done with it, it just doesn’t fit my vibe atm. it was a sweet story but nothing special, campy just… didn’t do it for me. he wasn’t my fave character to begin with and he’s just so stern and confused, it got a little on my nerves.

I love this series, and have been looking forward to hearing about Campy and his roommate from their first mention. Both guys are sweethearts, and I am glad Jackson didn't give up at all. Campy manages to be wary without seeming incredibly skittish.

Can't wait for Pixie and Bear next. And who is the mysterious Daddy Bear has a meeting with?

I wasn't sure whether I was going to like this one as it, on the surface, focused on gay for pay (controversial in some circles) star Campy but I shouldn't have been worried.

There are enough little hints and snippets dropped into the opening couple of chapters for the reader to realise, way before Campy aka Cameron himself does, that he's bisexual and has had crushes on men he's never noticed for what they were.

Jackson's arrival in town, as Cameron's new roommate, begins to stir feelings he's never had before and it's amusing to watch him fall in love without noticing he's doing so.

Campy/Cameron is a cleverly written character, he takes the reader on a journey as much as he takes himself as his various different lives and personas begin to come crashing together once Jackson arrives in his life.

Jackson's almost too good to be true :) he's really just a genuine old-fashioned Texas boy who wants to find the love of his life and settle into the white picket fence life and when he meets Cam, it quickly becomes clear he's found his one.

The story goes on a few twists and turns as Jackson's TV show starts to make his face more recognisable and then inadvertently expose all Cam's secrets. The fall out is dealt with in a way which makes sense and which gives Cam the chance to get his own head around what's happening in his life.

Eventually there's reconcilliation and a truly lovely conclusion to what was an excellently plotted and paced - and seriously sweet and hot - romance in the Ballsy Boys series.

Now bring on Pixie and Bear!

Campy was SUCH a cute book, and this series has completely redeemed itself after the failure that was Heart.

Jackson has to be my all-time favorite character in the Ballsy series. He’s a mind-numbingly hot, overwhelmingly sweet, polite, gentle, perfect cowboy who finds himself the roommate of ‘Campy’ or Cameron after heading to LA to chase his dreams from a small Texas town. His country twang had me swooning the entire book.

We find out all of Campy’s secrets in this one, and boy was there a lot of them. Jackson was truly his perfect match. though. having just the right amount of patience, kindness. and understanding that Campy needs.

Favorite book so far, highly recommend this one.

Honestly, I think I would have preferred this story if they'd put an asexual spin on it. I loved the love, don't get me wrong, but I didn't really believe the attraction between the characters. I actually enjoyed the themes surrounding the relationship a lot more that the relationship itself. Also, I have to add, the writing was on a whole other level from Tank. (Spoiler alert: it is not a higher level.)

it was good a cute. jackson’s character we so adorable. campy was eh. but oh my god. no closure for jackson’s texan father. why! i get that we saw his mother accept him. but still. the epilogue was way too short. shoulda been like “oh, your parents are coming for the wedding right, jackson?” like a small sentence like that in the epilogue to inform me that his parents are good. but nope. nothing.
