Although I absolutely love the art style and the colors used in this comic, the story was not as interesting. I enjoyed it, yes, but it lacked intensity. I mean, the previous volumes had to do more with Zuko, and his storyline is filled with drama, so

Kind of a typical people with superpowers vs people without superpowers story but it's interesting that the benders are the ones starting problems with the nonbenders. I love that it makes a lot of great connections with both series.
These days when everything's being remade and rebooted, often as a pathetic parody of itself(Disney Star Wars); when things are constantly being decanonized, B-canonized, and AUed until I'm not even sure if I'm canon; I love the consistency with all the Avatar shows and comics(What live action movie?). Let's hope the live action series never happens!

Another incredible graphic novel of Avatar: The Last Airbender! In this one we see a conflict between benders and non benders and Aang tries to solve it as peacefully as possible....

Granted, it's taken nearly 5 arcs of the comics that continued the tales of the legend of Aang the last Airbender, THIS one, more than ever, feels like it ties into the world set by the Legend of Korra.
A sprawling international metropolis rife with unrest between two groups of people who desperately want equality?
Check for Korra's Republic City in season 1.
Machines doing a lot of the work a Bender would normally do?
Check for the eventual Sato & Verrick mechanical marvels.
Toph getting her first taste of being an upholder of the law?
Check, with the police chief role her daughter is set on inheriting.
Suki teaching chi-blocking to the Muggles of the city so that they can stand their ground against people with superpowers?
Check, with the Equalists being the primary common (?) threat that Korra faces when she first gets to the city

But for real, the story is well-crafted, the art is phenomenal, and the resolution is satisfying. Could've done with more Zuko or Iroh, but we can't have everything.

Liling, sit yo ass down; you're no Magneto advocating for the rights of a superhuman population because the non-powered folks are finding ways to "oppress" you & your kind!
...
How fitting that X-men '97 just started airing the week I decided to read this book!

The art style took me a second to get used to but excellent story. Loved seeing the history of Republic city, and the bender/non-bender storyline was super interesting. One of the last Gaang stories
