This may be a book I need to reread because I don't think I gave it the proper attention it deserved. I understand that the novel was purposely written to make the reader feel as if they're being distanced. But, it got a little hard to follow and was dragging on in the middle.
However, I definitely do not regret reading this book.

Dark but beautiful. I got a little lost in the politics, but enjoyed the storyline about the forensic study.

Though I initially despised this book (largely due to high school requiring me to read it), I was surprised by how much I was invested in the main plot of the book. This is one of the main reasons why I kept reading during the 75+ pages where Ondaatje was seemingly stalling progression in the storyline. The way that this book used fragmented narration was considerably meaningful and largely benefited the novel's storytelling.
