Reading Austen‘s writing feels like repeatedly banging my head against the wall. The writing and word choices are just too old for my brain to comprehend. I don‘t know anything about what Austen was writing about so there is nothing to help me contextualize whatever is said or done.

This book is for the girlies, whether it's 1817 or 2025 we are united by the shared experience of having to interact with men with undue confidence and self importance and also by the shared experience of when u just make up a whole entire narrative about a situation in ur head just for the drama
As I summarised it informally: "Well, she's being flirted with by chauvinists and being abandoned by her gold digger friend." Enjoyable enough, with a naive and honestly pretty ignorant protagonist who's surrounded by selfish people, but with interesting reflections on assumptions both made by characters about one another and by readers about the genre.
