D.G. Torrens has done it again. Her books are always great and this one is by far my favorite of all. It is the first in a 3 book series.

Emily has had enough loss in her life. The love of her life Robby was killed two years before in Afghanistan. The love of James's life left him for a job in another country. Both Emily and James have felt love and loss so great that neither are ready to try again, until they meet one another in a book store. Then they both have feelings that neither thought they would feel again. There was something in the look between them that touched them both.

This is such a good story. From pain to love to misunderstandings. This story will pull you in and put you right in the heart of the characters. You will feel their love, their pain and their deepest losses. All the ups and downs that go with a relationship and more. It is a definite tearjerker in parts and heartwarming in others. A wonderful story...

Ms. Torrens has a way of turning a story into more than just a boy loves girl, girl loves boy book. The details of the story are told in a beautiful way. I felt like I was actually in the Poppy field with Emily every time she went there. I felt her pain and love each time she went. Her loss of an old love and her beginning of a new love. A love so deep that both Emily and James could get over the past and move beyond anything and be together as one.

This is a wonderfully written story that you don't want to miss. It is the first in a three part series that so far is getting better and better with each turn of the page.

It is a definite 5 star book...

I found this to be a well written book. My main problem was not realizing it was a cliffhanger. Not the author's problem at all. But there was one place I saw where the female lead's last name got changed somehow. It did bother me a little. But by and large the writing itself good and the characters believable. And for the record, I'm not acquainted with the author in any way and bought the book because I saw it advertised somewhere.
