This was an interesting twist on the trials and enemies to lovers tropes. I thought our supporting cast was the star of the show, especially Kir.  The extended cast was so well done and I was so curious as to what they were up to!

The trials were interesting but the main star here is the mystery and the tension around the dark king. I’m curious to see what happens here in the next book!

However I didn’t love the main relationship in the book. I had a hard time buying the relationship and I hope that in the next book we see a bit more interactions between the two main characters.

I’ll probably check out the next one!

I devoured this book! It was so fun and kept me up late many nights.

I devoured this! Miranda has such a knack for connecting us to her characters so quickly! Loved this witchy world with trials, some mystery and magic love letters. That ending though! Jumped right into book 2!

I truly did have high hopes for this one, especially with the glowing reviews. And there were moments when I absolutely loved it, but then it was offset by the moments I couldn’t stand it.
Nikos was a POS from the beginning and you could see that a mile off. The king and FMC getting together in dreams ruined it for me when they did in real life. And Kirsi?? I sobbed. It felt so unnecessary. It practically ruined the whole book for me.

This was surprisingly good! Not going to lie, the first third of the book wasn't that great, with too many names, and too much confusing worldbuilding, and also not a lot of action happening. But once I started to understand what was going on, and the trials got underway, and Raven and Bastien started interacting, I really enjoyed it! I like the action and intrigue of the trials, and I also loved Raven's developing relationship with the king, and I love how down bad he is for her. I think some of the stuff with the
coven leaders blaming the king for the thrashings and everything bad that happened, and him stealing the grimoires because they have power when put together that no one knew about until now was a bit dumb,
but overall it was still really enjoyable. I super hope we get more of Raven and Bastien together in the next book, and maybe get to see them start to
take down the coven leaders.
