ACOTAR vibes but with games/ challenges and witches. I don’t recommend the audiobook because the gal reading it was such a wet blanket but the book was great!

Good book. Lots of twists and turns keeping the plot and story moving

I finished this entire book in one sitting! I couldn’t stop listening. It’s a slow burn, enemies to lovers with a magic system that was amazing. There’s trials involved and they were so good! The end of the book had me gobsmacked and I immediately downloaded book two and three cause I need to know what happened. I loved the pining and yearning the king did cause he wanted her so badly. It was funny that she thought she could fight her attraction to him. He’s a whole shadow daddy with wings!!!! I don’t think he could fight his attraction to himself! Im starting book two immediately because I refuse to believe that it actually happened cause there is no possible way! 4.5 stars.

DNF'd at page 58/14%.

I could not get into the writing, the world, or any of the characters. Everything was very surface level and flat. The pacing was very off, jumping from one thing to the next without any space to breathe and settle in. I feel like the aspects of the world and the magic system were missing because it read like I should already know it like if I had read the author's previous works where it explained it before but that doesn't translate well for new readers. Something was always just constantly missing.

The premise was interesting and I was quite excited to get into it but the execution wasn't there.

I found this quite fun - hints of a tri-wizard tournament meets Divine Rivals. Fun world. I wish the characters had more interesting & distinctive traits that made them more lovable, but the writing & general banter was just enough to keep me interested.
