What a fun, companionable narrator! Reading this memoir made me adore Alison Arngrim. I don't know why this surprised me a little bit. Maybe it's some residual ill feelings for the Nellie Oleson character. Recommended!
I picked up this book just because it sounded interesting, but I found myself really liking it and I'm not really sure why? :) I've been really into memoirs lately, and this one was a quick read and just trashy enough to keep me interested. :) Not life changing by any means, but still good nonetheless. For my more conservative reader friends: there was a bit of language and she talks about being sexually abused (so perhaps this isn't the best book for the younger reader). I did think she talked about her experiences in a really "real" and relatable way.
This was a sarcastically funny memoir, and definitely a good read for any fans of Little House on the Prairie.
I liked it a lot but am not able to rate it a 3.5. It was funny and touching but something keeps me from loving it and I don't even know what that something is. It is one of the few celebrity memoirs that deals with personal tragedy without seeming self pitying and it does not throw people under the bus for drama. I have a great respect for the author for both of those things and for finding humor even in the darkest parts of her life. Also, what she says about the feelings of forced forgiveness really wowed me and explained a lot about how I feel about our societies insistence that you must always forgive.
I grew up loving "Little House on the Prairie". Alison Arngrim not only dishes about what it was like being a child growing up on the cast, but talks about demons that she had to struggle through in her own life. Candid, poignant and funny, I finished this book in 2 days.
It was as good as Melissa Gilbert's book. And way way better than that bitch Mary's book. ;)

It would be cool to say I read this in a single day, but it actually took me two days.
The author tells an entertaining story that felt like I was sitting at the bar with her shooting the breeze while she entertained me with her stories.
I won't say more, because it will be better for you to discover her story for yourself.

I have to admit that mere pages into this book, I was babbling about it to a co-worker. I've long been aware enough to mentally separate the actress from her role (thank goodness!), but I had no idea who the non-Nellie side of Alison Arngrim was like--no inkling of her strength, her activism, or her sense of humor.
I grew up watching Little House, so I was very excited to dive into a tell-all on the cast and behind the scenes action. Alison give this and so much more!
This is exactly what I want/expect in all celebrity biographies: a life story, a tell-all, but with an overarching message or something they learned along the way about themselves and the world.
I found myself crying in one chapter, to turn around and laugh out loud in the next. I literally couldn't put this book down.

Lots of fascinating behind the scenes stories from one of my favorite childhood TV shows, Little House on the Prairie, as well as some really disturbing revelations from Alison’s childhood. I loved listening to her read the audio book.
