I'm not one to read celebrity tell-all books but I was glad to get a glimpse inside her world. knowing that she revealed her secrets in order to make positive changes for other children is admirable. It just goes to show you that you really have no idea what goes on in another person's life--do not judge.

During one memorable summer vacation, after Jerry Springer my little sister and I made it a daily late night tradition of watching Little House on the Prairie. This is story of Nellie, the Prairie bitch, of the show.

The meat of the book is about her life on Little House of the Prairie and any fan would love that part. But the story really is a coming of age story .... at the age 40. It was then Alison realized she wouldn't grow out of the shadow of Nellie but Nellie was a part of her.

We all know who Nellie Oleson was, right? Well maybe not the younger generation, those under 30.

But, the rest of us. Anyone over the age of 30 has to have seen at least one episode of Little House on the Prairie. We all grew up watching Little House on the Prairie either during the first run in the 1970s or in repeats that have been running endlessly over the last 40 years.

Allison Arngrim played that bitch Nellie on LHOTP and now uses her former role as Nellie in order to be an activist. She now works as a part time actress, part time comedian, and also works closely with causes to help AIDS and HIV patients and also helps those children who have been sexually abused.

Allison has lost some close friends both on and off the LHOTP cast to AIDS. Allisons father was also gay. He married a women to make him look "Normal." Because in the 1960s, homosexuality was not socially acceptable behavior. It had to be hidden. Her father later died of cancer, Not AIDS.

Allison is also a comedian and has a one woman show during which she tells the truth of things that happened on the set of LHOTP. When you can look back and laugh about your childhood during which you were sexually abused, and also while you were working pretty much full time for 7 years as a teenager, then you can be called a survivor!!

Allison Arngrim is a survivor and this book tells it like it is!! This is the REAL story of what life was like on the set of Little House on the Prairie.
emotional funny medium-paced

This book was fantastic. Alison is a fantastic writer! It was a page turner for me. She is an amazing woman to survive child abuse and go on to be a strong force for positive change in our world! I highly recommend reading this book! If you're a fan of LHOP like I am, you will also enjoy all the little behind the scenes and stories she interweaves into her life story.

Hard core LHOTP fans would appreciate Angrim's behind the scenes details from her time on the show; Angrim also chronicles her life, from her childhood abuse to her present work with charities focusing on AIDS and abused children. I appreciated Ingrim's honesty and humor and candor. Overall, an interesting enough read.

Interesting, enjoyable memoir.

More entertaining than expected

Allison is a colorful story teller and has certainly led an interesting life. This book tells the reader all the stuff you probably wanted to know and more that you didn’t know you wanted to know.

I'm quite embarrassed to have read and enjoyed this memoir, but I'm not sure why. It's a terrific, clear-eyed account by a non-addicted Hollywood-bred kid who made good in the end.
