Even better than the first. So weird and sometimes funny. The plot thickens, we get more background info, we get another weird world. Love it and I am really excited to read the third book!

The pacing picked up in this volume and more of the world was explained.  The added context made the overall plot more enjoyable.  I did enjoy the cliffhanger ending which left me wanting to see what would happen next.  Overall enjoyable.

DNF.
The weirdness in this volume is lesser than the first, but maybe I’m just used to the world? Dunno, but it all just gets too weird and feels like a confusing dream. If that’s your thing, if you like really trippy, free flowing narrative where the idea is more than the structure of the plot, enjoy.

This book shifts the pacing a lot from The Motherless Oven, and offers a lot more clarity than The Motherless Oven does, and gets us on the way to figuring out wtf is going on with the world of The Bear Park (which is a good thing particularly because The Book of Forks throws us into the deep end in terms of giving shape & "Sense" to the universe). This also really makes a frightening figure in Vera's mother, the Weather Clock, and one of the more wholesome and cute characters in her father, a can opener.

I've sat up here and read the 2nd book in a series and didn't even know it. Isn't that something? I'll have to get my hands on the first volume when I get a chance to understand this world a bit more. But over all I did enjoy the weirdness.

Wacky, and surreal; fun to read and it left me wanting more! So great when the sequel lives up to the promises of the first volume.
