Anna Todd, you kill me. Dead. Like, how am I going to live until the next book in this series comes out? I'm going to lie awake at night, wondering what happens to Kael, Karina, and Austin (and no, this is not a love triangle).

The first half of the book is slow-moving. It lets you get to know Karina and a little background on her family unit and their dysfunctional relationships. By the time I got through 50% of the book, I needed to know what was going to happen with these characters. Then the drama decided to happen and I was completely hooked. I could feel the drama coming, building, and when it happened, it wasn't what I was expecting. The ending was a surprise also and I don't know who to be angry with - Kael or Anna? I am SHOOK.

Wattpad-esque story with a childish main character

Love / infatuation story. Nice relationship cliffhanger. Will definitely check out the next in the series.

I read all three of the Brightest Stars novels back to back…. Anna Todd has created a really solid New Adult military fiction series.

The Falling - We are introduced to Karina, a massage therapist living on an army base and coming up to her 21st birthday. It’s at her job that she meets Kael. An injured soldier with a surly demeanor. The attraction is undeniable but their beliefs couldn’t be more different.

I found the characters hard to connect with. The dialogue felt a little forced and unnatural and I couldn’t decide if that was the author's plan to make you feel the awkwardness oozing from the pair.

The idea of the two characters healing each other was beautiful and some of the book was really solid and other parts… A little shaky. I have book 2 and I’m hoping book 2 finds its footing after the cliffhanger. It feels like a big book for not a lot of time passing and not much has happened yet.

Not my favorite!!! I did not get into it until the last chapters. I am yet to read The Burning and I am hoping the story gets better.

I loved this book and how enjoyable it was for me. I really want to read book 2 but I’m not sure if or when we are ever getting it and I’m sad about it.

3.5 🌟 stars... man this book had a ton of potential but something just wasn’t right, it felt thrown together and all over the place. I never could get a grip on the timeline, and I had a ton of questions! I’m glad to know it’s not a stand alone so I’m hoping the next one explains things a little better. Thumbs up on that cliffhanger hanger though... #shook it definitely left me wanting to know what happens next.
