Oof. You can tell this was written by women. I feels more like a watt pad story then a published one.

The story itself was interesting, just not well written.

Want to read better M/M romance?

I’d recommend Him (and sequel Us) for a sports romance.
You & Me for a friends to lovers romance.
Red, White & Royal Blue for enemies to lovers romance.
Boyfriend Material (and sequel Husband Material) for fake dating to lovers romance.
Henry Hamlet’s Heart for YA coming of age romance.

Good points:
- Great characters
- Breaks stereotypes
- HEA
- Compared to going deep by G.A Hauser, it's very realistic

Bad points:
- The lemon scenes seemed central to the plot - rather than the conflicts
- Compared to Marie Sexton, it was VERY fluffy

This was a re-read for me; I think it was among the first m/m romances I ever read. I gave it 5 stars when I read it the first time, but I lowered my rating after this most recent read-through. Why? Well, I've read so many m/m (and m/f) romances since then, that I've learned more about what I like and don't like and what makes a good book (and my tastes have probably changed, too). So, while this was good, I just didn't find it all that interesting. There wasn't really any conflict and, to me, the dialogue felt forced in some spots.

4.5 Stars rounded down. I loved Brandon and Jake together. They just fit. I liked the little bit of slow lead in to the relationship. It was a fun and light story. Very low angst, so low I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. It lost .5 stars for the head hopping. It occurred paragraph to paragraph and included characters other than the two MCs so you weren't always sure who you were listening to.

This was such an adorable story - I totally feel in love with Jake and Brandon. The development of their relationship and their emotions felt so real and left me feeling all warm and toasty on the inside ;)

I was very pleased that the authors stayed away from those awful high school stereotypes with Jake and Brandon. Jake was much smarter and wittier than the usual stereotypical jock, whilst Brandon didn't have the stereotypical 'nerd' appearance and was much more athletic than you'd perhaps expect from someone who had been labelled as a science geek.

The only real problem I had with Caught Running was the head hopping between different points of view throughout the story, which took a chapter or so to get used to. But once I'd adjusted to it, the story really pulled me in.

Overall, a great read and definitely one of the best M/M romances I've read in the past few months.

I was first introduced to these authors through their Cut & Run series which I absolutely adore so when I happened across Caught Running I figured I’d read it and see if it was Ty Grady and Zane Garrett that drew me or would another story by these authors be just as good. I am here to tell you that anything that Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux put out together will be on my auto buy list from here on out. I will be checking into more of their backlist as well.

Caught Running is the story of “The Jock” and “The Nerd”. Ten years after high school graduation Jake “The Jock” and Brandon “The Nerd” are teaching at their old high school. Jake is head coach and Brandon is a science teacher. Circumstances throw the two together as Brandon is coerced into becoming an assistant coach for the baseball team. It is an eye-opening experience for both men. And then there is the love story.

This is such a terrific read I have to recommend it to everyone whether you read m/m romance or no

Jake is the sports coach for the high school he went to. After losing the good fight to three different injuries his hopes of playing professional football are dashed. So he goes back to his home town after his parents move to Florida and teaches football and baseball. While in college he learns that he is gay but decides to not go public with it in his little home town and is surprised when there is a chance for love.

Brandon was in the same grade as Jake in high school but was a nerd instead of an athlete. He gets out of the small town and goes to college and is in the middle of getting his medical degree only to return when his parents die in an accident. While he is there the principal of the high school tells him that he should think about teaching biology and chemistry at his alma mater. Brandon decides to take him up on the offer but instead of getting to teach AP classes he finds himself ending up having to help coach the baseball team with Jake, which he knows nothing about. As Brandon learns more about Jake he wishes he could have him but doesn't know if it is possible.

This story was good and I liked the camaraderie between Jake and Brandon once they got warmed up to each other. They were both attracted to each other but didn't want to do anything because they didn't know if each other were gay or not. One of the things that bothered me in this story was there wasn't a lot of drama between the two characters and even when the authors tried to make some it wasn't very big. Also the story was disjointed in the way that I would read a paragraph from Brandon's point of view then all of the sudden it switched to Jake and then back again. I don't know if this happens when two authors are writing but the story felt not so cohesive at times. Over all a good story.

I give this story a solid 3 stars.

This is a relatively light read but I like the characters as they are not the stereotypical 'jock' and 'nerd'. A little confusion as we jump from Jake's POV to Brandon's POV but it is not too distracting. This made a great holiday read.

Sweet story

First the frustrating things that in my opinion prevented a full 5 star review. It switches back and forth between character perspectives (just the two main characters) within the same chapter, same page even, from paragraph to paragraph so it can be challenging to follow. You end up getting the hang of it but I feel like it could be structured better.

I love the story though, and being able to get the story from both characters view points. I also love how it's not drama filled, there are no unnecessary and emotionally charged reactions to implausible events. Real life events with real life reactions and responses.

It's a believable storyline and I love it.
