The writing is redundant and at times overly flowery. The main characters are nearly flawless except for their glaring personality flaws; but being fabulously weathly, good looking, and good at sex are supposed to detract from that enough to get through the logical fallacies of especially the crazy stalker’s arguement.
He is supposed to be redeemable in as much that he is killing pedos and human traffickers and working against the skin trade, while participating in and actively committing assault and rape on the FMC?
No thanks. I don’t get booktoks obsession with this. It’s just not good, and edgy for the sake of being edgy. If I had bothered to finish it, It’d be one star.

This book was amazing. With its length and somewhat slow burn there is lots of character development. I loved the question of possible supernatural forces at place. Z is truly the embodiment of a very morally grey character. The fact that the height of the action occurs in the last 20 pages and ends in a cliffhanger was very well done. I enjoy the push and pull between fluff moments and WTF moments. Can't wait to read book 2! This book is very dark so read the trigger warnings/content warnings page in the book!

I honestly didn’t think this book would live up to the hype of the first one, which I instantly fell in love with, and for the first maybe 1/3 of this book, I was fearing that it wouldn’t.
But oh my god did it deliver.

H D Carlton knows how to right a seriously addictive book. I devoured the first one, but this one I wanted to savour, because I knew that when I finished this book, I would reach the conclusion of Zade and Addie, and I had no idea where it was going to go.

I don’t have many words for this book, everything I said about the characters, and the story telling, in my review of the first book ring true of this book as well.

The end of this book made me cry which I definitely was not expecting, but I’m so happy with Z and Addies end, it was perfect.

The last thing I would say about this series, definitely DEFINITELY, take the warnings and content descriptions seriously. This book could be very triggering for some, more so than the first book, so really bear that in mind, but it is SO worth the read if you can.
