I was just a little bored. The mystery wasn’t the best mystery and the romances weren’t the best romances. And a good amount of the characters were kind of inlikeable.

Another enjoyable dual historical timeline novel from Fiona Davis. The main storyline involves the Frick Collection in 1919 when the art museum was still a palatial family home. An artist’s model fleeing a scandal ends up employed by the patriarch’s daughter, Helen Clay Frick, and becomes further embroiled in trouble. Both characters were interesting and there was a lot of detail about the art world. The secondary timeline featuring a 1960s fashion model and a Black archivist trapped in the museum by a snowstorm was less engaging but served to bring the story full circle.

This took a little while for me to get into but once I did was totally enthralled. I love the blend of historical fiction and I was captivated by the mystery here. For most of the book i really only cared about Lillian’s storyline, but Veronica had some good moments too towards the end.
