This book was not for me.
There was a slow-build that never really turned into something I was looking forward to reading.
Near the last third, there was some mystery thrown in, which is where the book got better. However, the ending ruined it for me. Too many people accepting unacceptable things.
This story is also written with alternate timelines, when I think the story would have been better with just the one. Veronica’s story didn’t intrigue me at all and brought the book down. I honestly think it would have been better without it.

I was held captive by the first 2/3 of this book but with 100 pages left to go the author seemed to struggle. I did not like the ending. The characters were never really flushed out - the author couldn’t decide what traits each character should be ruled by. Disappointing - I should have known it would be since this was a Book of the Month selection and they rarely hit it out of the ball park.

An interesting take on real life events/people. There was some scandal, mystery and intrigue that made the story more compelling. Fiona Davis does a great job retelling historical events.

A fun historical mystery that traverses between 1919 and 1966. I enjoyed that the novel was so focused on art, and had a fun scavenger hunt as well.

This dragged a little in places but overall I liked it. Mystery elements, two main characters, two time periods.

I normally really enjoy Fiona Davis books but this one fell flat for me, unfortunately. The characters weren’t developed enough for me and I found the story kind of bland. The last third of the book picked up finally. I did enjoy the author’s note at the end and it gave me a jumping off point to do more research.
