I was somewhat irritated by the 1966 storyline. I found it unrealistic and trying. I understand it is a necessary plotline to merge the stories, but reading those chapters produced a profound ugh-ness I wish I could've avoided.
Overall, enjoyable and a quick read. I’m fascinated by Audrey Munson after reading Emily Ratajkowski’s My Body, so I’m totally game with historical fiction featuring a character based on Munson.

I enjoyed this book. It wasn’t anything spectacular but it was not bad. I personally feel like it got off to a slow start. It took me a while to really get into it. I didn’t really like the 2nd timeline of Veronica and Joshua. I found myself uninterested in their story. Other than that, I enjoyed this story.
Book club read. I loved the two different perspectives and the hard lessons in each. One deals with racism/mirrors another character and the other a web of lies with unfortunate events.

Beautiful, engaging, emotional, and (surprisingly) quite shocking in the end. Not where I imagined it would go, but some how much, much better.
mysterious
This was quite a good read. The pacing was a little slow for my personal liking, but at the same time it didn't feel like a trudge to get through. A big part of the story – the clues surviving in The Frick for more than 50 years, under rugs, behind paintings, etc., however, felt implausible. I just don't believe that nobody ever moved anything around once the house was converted into a museum. The mystery itself was interesting, but nothing mind-blowing and the reveal didn't surprise me much.
Magnolia Palace covers a piece of history that one doesn't always think about - art and fasion models. What happens to them after their 15 minutes of fame. This book also takes the reader into the world of art collection and family rivalry. Helen Clay Frick is a woman I have never heard of before this book, and while I might not like her do find her to be a curiosity.
How did I find this book? After reading Lions of Fifth Avenue I wanted to read all of her work.

An artistic mystery that carries you through two timelines under one roof. Was unable to put down this page turner.
Next up is a visit to Magnolia Palace in NYC to see the Frick Collection in person.
