Meh. Had so much potential … much more focused on the fiction aspect of historical fiction. And, some of the rationale behind motives were flimsy, at best. Writing style was enjoyable but I couldn’t buy into the plot.

Entertaining book. I love that it involves the Frick Family/Frick Collection. I wasn’t as fond of the 1966 storyline compared to the 1919 storyline but once I finished the book i had a better understanding of why it was necessary.
Took me a bit to get into it but by the end I didn't want to stop listening. I throughly enjoy how the author weaves the old and the new in her books. And all the curveballs!! Will highly recommend!

What drew me to this book was it was historical fiction set in Victorian age New York City. Unfortunately, the story plot was not strong to warrant more than 300 pages. There are two timelines and the 1966 storyline does not serve a purpose. Writing was good and crisp, but the plot languished.
