The writing is accessible, so don't let the length intimidate you—this masterpiece is well worth the read.

A pesar de ser un libro muy extenso, lo leí con relativa facilidad. Me pareció muy entretenido; ya que siempre había algún tema rondando mi cabeza mientras lo leía y no podía esperar a que llegase el momento en el que se solucionase.
Al principio, fue saber de qué se le acusaba al protagonista. Después, cómo haría para salir de la cárcel. A continuación, cómo conseguiría una alta posición social para poder llevar a cabo su venganza y cómo se vengaría. Ya por último, qué ocurriría una vez el Conde se hubiese vengado de todos.
A pesar de que trata sobre la venganza, me esperaba que fuese el típico discurso moral de que vengarse está mal. He de decir que, para mí, este es el punto fuerte del libro: se venga y... cómo se venga !! Deja a todos deshonrados y hundidos en la miseria mientras él se marcha triunfante. No pude más que alegrarme por el Conde.
Conclusión: recomiendo totalmente el libro, ha cumplido mis expectativas. El único contra es que a partir de que huye de la cárcel, el libro avanza muy lentamente y esto puede hacer que lectores pierdan el interés.

The first and last thirds are very gripping and hard to put down. The middle section is less so but if you can get through it, it's worth it for everything that happens at the end. Probably one of the easiest to read long classics. Overall I really enjoyed it and can't wait to now watch some of the film adaptations.

The BEST revenge book to exist. Edmond Dantès is so interesting as a protagonist, one of the best characters to exist in literature.
