This series just keeps getting better! This is basically a spin-off trilogy of the original trilogy and is about Catalina. Catalina is a compelling protagonist, the writing keeps getting better and I’m obsessed with this world.
One thing that I think sets Ilona Andrews apart from other writers IMO is how different she can make her characters. They’re strong badass women but Catalina is very different from Nevada who’s very different Dina. The romances are all different as well because they’re all different people. Switching main characters halfway through an urban fantasy series is a ballsy choice but it really works in this. The world is also very complex for an urban fantasy.

3.5 stars. Back on track. Alessandro is much less of a showoff teenage blowhard this time. Catalina is sadly still much less interesting or fun than her sister though.

This one has the most fun plot so far, and I really love this family. Lina and Alessandro are good team, but they didn't spend much time together in the first half of the book. Bern and Runa are amazing together, and I want Leon series now.

I just cannot say anything bad about this series. This is my favorite Ilona Andrews series, and it keeps getting better. Catalina is a very sidelined character for the first few books but she’s really shined in this book and the last. And I love how they write this slow burn relationships. Worth the wait with Alessandro.

I love this series, although I really would prefer reading about Nevada and Connor. I just don't care as much about Catalina and Alessandro, but I do love being in this world, and I didn't want to leave it. As long as Ilona Andrews keeps writing, I'll keep reading.
